Is God Trying To Tell Me Something?

Last week, I accidentally wrecked my wife’s SUV. The unmarked and barely lit street (I decided to take that night) abruptly dead ended at a lake separated by a wired fence designed only to keep the lake critters off the block. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Was God trying to tell me something? Why would He allow this car accident to happen to us? Could it be that we are subject to the Law of Cause and Effect which operates within His universe? The Bible says “He who sows wickedness reaps trouble” (Proverbs22:8a). “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only topoverty” (Proverbs14:23). “Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you” (Romans 13:3). Secondly, does God have to try to do anything? We think not. I just Thank God that I’m not "swimming with the fishes."

You Have No Business Without A Job

For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10 NIV) Earlier this morning I arrived at the church to find a strange man wearing a black suit walking suspiciously in the parking lot. I know, there are no strangers in the House of God, but I’d never seen this man before. With a heavy accent he asked if I was Pastor Everett. And like any other God fearing man, who has not always been in the church, I replied “who wants to know?” He explained that he was looking to rent space to tutor school-aged children and teach English to non-English speaking adults. I then confirmed who I am and invited him into my office. Immediately, he started telling me all the wonderful things he had heard about me. And, I immediately knew that he had no working capital.
